The 2008 Missouri Environmental Conference has been set. Please
mark your calendars!
The conference begins with a golf tournament, followed by an evening reception on Sunday. Workshops and plenary sessions follow on Monday (all day) and the conference concludes late afternoon on Tuesday.

Highlights of Conference:
- Monday Plenary Speaker - BOBBY FANNING, Wal-Mart Corporate Solid Waste and Recycling Manager will discuss Wal-Mart's sustainable goals, initiatives and success stories that have brought literally millions in savings to the company's bottom line.
- Tuesday Special Speaker - NATHAN J. CLARK, Director of Emissions Offsets with the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX). He will provide an overview of CCX, talk to us about how carbon credit trading and offset programs work and provide a look into the future of the carbon market both domestically and abroad.
- Entertainment will provided during the Sunday reception and Monday luncheon by InTheGreenProductions. Please join Welcome Reception co-sponsors, Barker Lemar, and Veolia for a fun evening on the veranda overlooking beautiful Lake of the Ozarks for an evening of getting reacquainted with old and new friends, food, beverages and live music by In-The-Green Productions.

- The Coalition is again conducting a raffle for its education fund. Check out the details: Raffle
- The Department of Natural Resources will be holding a one day Tanks Workshop as part of the Conference. The training will be held on June 24th, 2008, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The workshop will include training on the Missouri Risk Based Corrective Action process for petroleum storage tanks. The Tanks Workshop will look at such things as the use of site conceptual models (SCM), validation of the SCM, determining soil types, determination of risk based target levels, site characterization, soil vapor sampling, determining representative concentrations, exposure pathway evaluations, risk assessment process, risk management plans, the use of activity and use limitations, and reporting.

Conference Scholarship Available
The Coalition will be offering a limited number of scholarships to employees of local and county government entities that have not attended an MWCC conference in the past three years. The scholarship covers the registration fee and hotel lodging for 2 nights. The registration fee includes all handout materials, a one year membership in the Coalition, continental breakfast and lunch on Monday and Tuesday, breaks, and receptions on Sunday and Monday evenings. The deadline for applications has been extended to June 1, 2008. An application can be downloaded here. The completed application should be faxed to (913) 381-4458 or emailed to mwcc@sbcglobal.net.
Discarded Appliance Demanufacturing Workshops
The Missouri Waste Control Coalition provides one day workshops on Demanufacturing Discarded Appliances. Copies of the power point presentation and the handout materials can be found below.
