Environmental Data Management Best Practices Panel + Lab Tour

Environmental work generates an overwhelming amount of data—field measurements, lab results, weather feeds, and continuous monitoring from treatment systems. The challenge isn’t collecting information; it’s transforming it into confident, timely decisions. As technology accelerates, stakeholders expect answers now, and the pressure to be faster and smarter keeps rising.

High‑quality decisions start with high‑quality data. That means clear planning, well‑defined data quality objectives, and consistent procedures to verify that the information you’re relying on is accurate and usable. But even the best data loses value if it’s trapped in disconnected systems. Effective data exchange—making information accessible, shareable, and trustworthy—is essential. When done well, it’s efficient, repeatable, and preserves data integrity. When done poorly, it leads to gaps, mismatches, and uncertainty about where the data even came from.

This seminar explores how to manage environmental data with purpose: how to collect it wisely, ensure its quality, and move it seamlessly across systems so it can actually drive decisions. Our expert panel will help answer questions like:

  • How do we overcome resistance to adopting digital field data collection, and ensure we don’t lose data when it’s collected digitally?
  • What are the considerations for data access, control and security when sharing databases across multiple agencies, platforms, and stakeholder groups?
  • What’s the best way to handle using several analytical laboratories, each with a different electronic data deliverable (EDD)?
  • Our company wants to invest in environmental data management. What’s the best place to start?

This seminar will be Q&A style, with lots of interaction from the audience, so come prepared with all your EDMS questions.  And after lunch, our location host, Teklab Analytical, will lead a tour of their new laboratory facility.

EXPERT PANEL will be composed of representatives from EarthSoft, Inc, Teklab Analytical, Missouri Geological Survey, and Environmental Works, Inc.
